Birthday Fun

So I planned a little cycling adventure for Trav's quarter century birthday this weekend. We left our apartment in Orange County at 7am on Saturday and arrived in downtown San Diego around 5pm. The trek was 95 miles and was by far our longest bike ride. The best part is that everything went perfectly according to plan. All of the stopping points and places were perfect (which was nice considering I just looked at the map picked random stopping points), the weather was gorgeous, and we had no flats, sunburns, tears, wrong turns, or deaths. Once in San Diego we picked out outfits (since we only had our bike clothes), checked into our hotel and went out to dinner. The next day we took a train ride back to Orange County and rode home. Here is a photo journey of our adventure.
Early DepartureRiding along the Pacific Coast Highway
The first planned stop, Pipes Cafe in San Clemente (25 miles along the road)Hearty breakfast burritos..mmmmmm
Stop #2: Jamba Juice..... of course I knew the Jamba Juice was in this nice little courtyard and I planned it so there would also be a live musician :) (40 miles in)We rode through Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. Yes, watch out for those tanks. (halfway point)
Just after our Subway stop. The coastline was amazing!!! Dinner at Toscana Cafe. I had a chicken pesto panini and Trav had salmon pasta primavera. Too bad we didn't get a full shot of our new outfits :( After sleeping for 11 hours straight (we were a little tired) we caught the Pacific Coastliner back to Irvine The view from the trainThe fun isn't over yet. We had a Wiffle Cake party with some friends. This little secret hidden park is a gem. It overlooks the Back Bay and is only minutes from our house. It's not a party without some chocolate cakeDouble Decker.Friends wearing Trav's special birthday plates as masks.I love this man! I am one blessed wife. Happy Birthday Love!!!!

  2. What a fun birthday trip! The hooks are jealous ;). Great job taking pics, Lee, and my favorite is probably the one of Trav blowing out his candles. Love it. And the chocolate cake looked amazing too. Way to go, Leah!
